The Golden Record: Sounds of Earth

In 1977, Dr Carl Sagan of NASA sent two records full of sounds and images designed to convey Earth life to aliens. Using the same images and sounds as stimulus, the Collective has commissioned 116 artists, musicians, comedians and theatre-makers to respond. There are some good gags here, but it's a one-joke premise.

Six different, immersive installation works which combine image, video, sound and music, as well as architectural and sculptural installation, draw audiences into a highly credible fictional world and evoke a sense of childlike wonder. Go early, and allow yourself at least an hour. Sheer delight.
