Days out, Fun fair

Edinburgh's festival season kicks off with the Meadows Festival, which offers the best local bands, dance groups, quirky performers and workshops amidst lots of family-friendly activities.

Stranraer Inshore Lifeboats adopt their land legs for a fundraising music festival featuring a range of local and familiar artists as well as craft stalls, fun fair rides and The Marine Lake with its pirate ship. On the Friday evening there's a new event – the Young Guns Night, which is a showcase for young local talent.

Running since 1853, the agricultural show has cattle, horse and sheep showings, plus sheep shearing, tug of war, kids' races, sausage competition, marquee dance and all the usual fun of the fair.

A fun day out to raise money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation with a Teddy Toddle, fairground attractions and the chance to meet some of your favourite telly and movie stars.

In conjunction with Leith Festival, Taylor's Funfair host this wonderful event for local children with special needs.

The oldest Gala Day in the East Neuk of Fife and harks back to the fishing tradition of Scottish coastal villages. A fun-filled family day, the highlight is the arrival of the Sea Queen Party onboard a restored antique sail-boat, while dockside there are stalls, a mini fairground and live music.
