Meet Dave
Date Location
Eddie Murphy plays Dave Ming Chang, a spaceship made in the image of its miniature-sized captain (also Murphy) who has landed on Earth on a mission to save his planet. Now, one of the least eagerly anticipated reunions in cinema history - between Murphy and director Brian Robbins ('Norbit') - invites us to Meet Dave. You really shouldn't bother.

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures
Date Location
Documentary filmmaker Waitt sets out to contact all of his ex-girlfriends, to discover what makes him such a rubbish boyfriend, leading to a trip to Edinburgh. A brisk pace, a desire to bare all (literally) and Chris' very ordinary but anxious humanity makes this slightly insular premise engaging viewing.

Bratz: The Movie
Date Location
The popular dolls Bratz finally come alive in their first live action feature film: a shallow, depressing affair that sends out mixed messages about camaraderie and consumerism.
26 Jul Sat 11.30am Glasgow Film Theatre, Glasgow
26 Jul Sat 11.30am Cineworld Parkhead, Glasgow
Jongleurs Comedy Club
Date Location
Alex Boardman and Brendan Burke are just two of the comedians performing this weekend at the partyland of Jongleurs. Ignore the credit crunch, you know damn fine you want to eat chips, drink beer and watch comedians.
26 Jul 8.00 Jongleurs, Glasgow
Sex and the City: The Movie
Date Location
A few years on from packing away the series, the characters are back and fleshed out, the individual angst of each woman realised enough to engage even the hardened cynics. Like life however, the film isn't perfect, the beginning recap is clumsy, the ending is rushed, and the version of feminist power and female solidarity the film peddles is slightly simplistic.

Comedy @ The State

Back to the mic for host Chris Broomfield, as he brings forth another top line-up in the cheap-as-posh-chips comedy show. Tonight features Jay Lafferty, Mikey Adams, Gus Lymburn and Bruce Fummey.

Comedy @ The State

Saturdays Sat 9.00 The State Bar, Glasgow
The Devil Wears Prada
Date Location
Nice, twee wannabee journalist Andy (Hathaway) finds herself employed as one of two personal secretaries to the formidable Miranda Priestly (Streep), an Anna Wintour style fashion editor. With killer one lines, really well rounded characterisation and excellent performances, it's difficult not to fall for its myriad charms. Though formulaic, in terms of decent mainstream US films this year, this enjoyably innocuous, bitchy romp, may be as good as it gets.
25 Jul26 Jul Fri & Sat 11.00 Grosvenor, Glasgow
