Set in Hollywood 1927, the silent-film romantic team of Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont is the toast of Tinseltown. While Lockwood and Lamont personify smouldering passions onscreen, in real life they can’t stand each other.
Watching this from the sidelines is Cosmo Brown, Don’s life-long pal and on-set pianist. When the talking-picture revolution commences, there is concern as to how the “talkies” will affect the upcoming Lockwood-Lamont vehicle The Dueling Cavalier ? Don, an accomplished song-and-dance man, should have no trouble. Lina, however, is another matter… The unfolding story is full of classics including “Make ‘em laugh”, “Good morning” and of course one of the all time greatest title song and dance routines “Singin’ in the Rain”.
Based on the MGM film. Screenplay and adaption by Betty Comden and Adolf Green. Songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed. Production arrangement with Maurice Rosenfield, Louis F. Rosenfield and Cindy Pritzker, Inc. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International Sat 6 February 2.30pm of New York.
