A great night celebrating youth music in Edinburgh. Come along and see the best of what Edinburgh youth has to offer, and help us raise a bit of money too!

As part of our fundraising efforts this summer, Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin (a leading provider of musical activities for young people) is organising a big reunion ceilidh in partnership with Edinburgh University Folk Society. We’re inviting back all the old participants – anyone who has ever been involved with the Gaitherin – to join us for a big party.

We’re celebrating the continuing generations of awesome young musical talent and the building of bridges between them. Many former EYG participants have gone on to be core members of the Edinburgh University Folk Society, and many of them go on to be integral parts of the ‘scene’ too! Many Folksoccers will have fond memories of other organisations like EYG that have brought them into the music – the Fèisean, Folkworks, and Tinto Summer School. Hurrah for youth music movements!

So come along for an excellent party full of dancing and guest performances from past and present EYGers, the EUFolksoc, and anyone else who wants to! As well as hosting weekly sessions which foster and support emerging talent, EUFolksoc has now begun training ceilidh musicians and will be leading the night’s dancing.

There will also be a raffle, home baking and homemade soup with fresh homemade bread.

We welcome the public to this, so even if you’ve never been to either EYG or EUFolksoc, come along for a dance!

Spread the word and we’ll see you there!
