This fun and creative five-day course is ideal for children aged 5 to 7 who have an interest in singing, enjoy movement and like to express themselves through performing.

This summer school uses a holistic and highly interactive approach to music. Singing, colourful props, games and simple percussion instruments are used to develop each participant’s musicality, spatial awareness, language, communication and social skills within the group.

By the end of this course participants should have:

  • Developed their musicality and movement skills

  • Communicated creative ideas to the rest of the group

  • Worked on composition skills leading to a performance of student created material

  • Participated in a supportive and interactive learning environment

This summer school will be led by a team of highly experienced and passionate professional musicians. During the week participants will work closely with the specialists to combine singing, rhyme, percussion, movement and creative arts to produce a performance which will be accompanied by a live band.

The week will be very interactive with participants being encouraged to add their own artistic ideas – musical, rhythmical and dramatic – towards the creation of the show. Participants will interact through warm-up games and artistic activities including movement, compositional, instrumental and performance-based sessions.

The participants will be highly involved in the show's compositional process, guided by the tutors from start to finish, to create the rhythms, melodies and lyrics required, based on an ‘Under the Sea’ theme.

Throughout the week-long process, participants will also explore and learn about the habitats and creatures that live under the sea and compose themes to represent them on this underwater adventure.
