Intensive musical theatre summer school, with the theme of 'Electric Communism'. Students will develop their acting, singing and dancing skills through a range of theory and practical techniques. Ages 15–17.

This five-day summer school is designed for young people aged 15–17 years old who are interested in exploring how to create original musical theatre material. Participants will take part in a challenging creative process and use the stimulus ‘Electric Communism’ as a starting point.
By the end of the course participants should have:
- Used practical exercises to develop acting, singing and dancing skills
- Explored creative methods of interpreting musical theatre material
- Worked with contrasting music across various styles to respond to a stimulus
- Developed a devised performance using personal creative ideas
Musical Theatre is a competitive and demanding industry. Artists have to combine multiple performance disciplines including acting, singing and dance.
This energetic week-long summer school will explore the rigors and challenges of musical theatre and get participants performing to a high standard and creating new material. It may be useful for anyone wishing to pursue a pathway to further training or explore a career in this field.
The course will use practical exercises to develop the skills necessary to perform musical theatre material including acting through song, character development, dance and movement work, singing skills and stylistic choice.
With the support of tutors participants will use a set stimulus to research and interpret text, melody and personal ideas to create original material. This process will involve reflection and discussion about the work by the full class group.
In addition participants will explore themes within popular music and musical theatre songs, and be challenged to experiment with alternative interpretations of well-known material.
This summer school will strongly encourage participants own creativity and ideas, allowing a rewarding exploratory experience.
