La Cage Aux Folles

In its first Glasgow performance for over ten years, the show about the farcical adventures of a glamorous gay couple and their future daughter-in-law's ultra-conservative parents makes a glitzy return. With songs such as 'I Am What I Am' and 'The Best of Times', the celebration of camp is presented by Glasgow’s oldest amateur musical society, The Orpheus Club.

Limp, aged costumes; missed timings and positions; 'pregnant pauses'; pointless entries on stage; ill fitting costumes and wigs that looked as if they had just been taken out of a bag and pulled on. It was not a production worthy of the King's Theatre. One saving grace was the preformances by the principal actors.
Did nothing to encourage me to spend money on another Orpheous company production.

Was I watching a different show?.....Where did Jam think he was in Londons West End?....The show was great and had a standing ovation, the principal actors were fabulous....ok there were a few glitches but the show just went on....both my friend and I throughly enjoyed the show and would certainly return to see another Orpheous production...

I can only agree with Bette. What a fabulous performance by all of the cast. The 4 main principals were outstanding, particularly Maman. The singing, by almost all of the cast, was perfect. The dancing was superb, it must have taken a lot of practise to get it so tight. Everyone looked as if they were enjoying their time on stage. Last, but by no means least, THE COSTUMES and makeup were to die for ! I found it difficult to pick out genders. For an amateur show it was 1st class. A very enjoyable and memorable evening. This was my 1st Orpheous production in over 15years and I will be back!
