Lorca is 22-year-old producer and DJ Sam Cassman. Originally from south-west London, Sam is currently based in Brighton where he spends his time making music, studying and being resident at one of the most on-point club nights in town [AKA AKA ROAR].
Named after the houseboat he grew up on, Lorca played guitar from a young age. He started getting into electronic music after hearing his friends dubstep records in 2007 and has been immersed in the scene ever since.
His influences range from Peter Green, Freddie King and Bill Withers to Joy Orbison, Wbeeza or Pearson Sound.
Lorca currently has releases out on Throwing Snow's imprint LeftBlack, the legendary Third Ear Recordings as well as a limited 10″ called ‘Moments’ via the Live Ones imprint. ‘Hold Back’ on LeftBlank was included in the track list of Modeselektor's essential mix on BBC Radio 1 while Scuba included the single 'Can't See Higher' on his own essential mix too.
His debut double A 'Can't See Higher / Missed Out' came out on Dummy on March 19th. Since its release it has rapidly been gaining support and was given the accolade of EQTV’s record of the day.
