Professor Eberhard Sauer of Edinburgh University talks about the arms race between the great powers in late antiquity; also the great frontier walls and fortifications of Iran dating back to the 3rd–7th century BC. These include the Gorgan Wall, aka 'The Red Snake', which is longer than the Antonine Wall and Hadrian's Wall combined and is guarded by 30 forts.
