El Dorado

Photography exhibition based on the work of Shirley Tipping. This is Shirley’s 12th year of an ongoing photography project based in the American West. Her work encompasses an interest in deserted dwellings, old western movie sets and artefacts from a bygone era. She seeks to explore their raw beauty, their relationship to the surrounding environment, their history and abandonment. Furthermore Shirley’s work questions the meeting point of the celluloid west and the geographical west, and Hollywood’s perpetuation of the mythical west.
