Creative Capture: Six St Andrews Poets

Creative Capture: Six St Andrews Poets

In November 2011, the photographer Norman McBeath photographed six leading contemporary poets all of whom are or have been teachers on the University of St Andrews School of English Creative Writing programmes. The photographs were taken in the University’s original King James Library, described by Samuel Johnson in 1776 as an ‘elegant and luminous bookroom’. Each poet provided the modern University Library with some lines of verse in their own hand, for display in the recently renovated Main Library. This exhibition during StAnza in the town's Public Library gives the general public a rare opportunity to see these portraits exhibited together with the framed autograph verse by each, before they go on permanent display in the University Library. Part of StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival.
