Las Meninas

Velàzquez’s famous painting, ‘Las Meninas’ which hangs in the Museo del Prado in Madrid prompted Picasso to paint his 1950s variations on the theme. A further half century later the poet Lyn Moir felt impelled to write in the voices of the inhabitants of the original painting with reference to Picasso’s variations. In this illustrated reading she will introduce the famous painting and the characters in it given new life in her collection ‘Velàzquez’s Riddle’.
