William McIlvanney
The Kilmarnock-born novelist and poet William McIlvanney has enjoyed acclaim ever since his debut novel, Remedy is None, won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize in 1967. Since then, he has won the Saltire and Whitbread prizes for his novels, and two Silver Daggers for his crime writing as well as the Herald's People prize twice. In the year of the 35th anniversary of Laidlaw, which started Tartan Noir, McIlvanney looks back at his career and reads some of his latest work. Part of Aye Write!
