George Wyllie at 90: A Celebration

George Wyllie at 90: A Celebration

George Wyllie is one Scotland's most idiosyncratic artists, a writer and sculptor who gave the nation the Paper Boat, the Straw Locomotive, and the clock running for a bus in Glasgow city centre. As he turns 90 in 2012, Aye Write! joins the national celebration of his work with an evening launching his book of collected poetry, readings of poems and essays, presentation on his life and work, and extracts from his play A Day Down a Goldmine. Featuring, among others, musician and commentator Pat Kane, writer Ian Pattison, painter and actor Charlie Jamieson, actress Tamara Kennedy, broadcaster Pauline MacLean and international film maker Murray Grigor (check www.ayewrite.com for final details). A memorable evening is in store, part of what will be a national festival of Wyllie's work in 2012 including exhibitions, books, artworks, parties, a new archive, DVDs and much more. See www.whysman.co.uk for details. Part of Aye Write!
