Peter Furniss & Martin Parker

Furniss (clarinet) and Parker (electronics) play Stravinsky's Three pieces for solo clarinet, Musgrave's Narcissus for clarinet with digital delay, Alex Harker's Fluence for clarinet and real time electronics, Parker's own gruntCount for bass clarinet and real time electronics and Steve Reich's New York Counterpoint for solo clarinet and 10-part tape in a spatialisation by Richard Dudas.

Peter Furniss & Martin Parker

This exciting and unusual concert will feature a tour of works for clarinet alone, with and without electronics. Alongside new pieces with live sound manipulation by Alex Harker and Martin Parker, Thea Musgrave's Narcissus uses a tape delay to create eerie echoes. The performance is framed by Igor Stravinsky's 3 Pieces (1919) and Steve Reich's New York Counterpoint (1985) for clarinet and eleven-part tape, played here in Furniss' own recording, with unique spatial effects created by US composer Richard Dudas.
