National Youth Theatre Auditions

Applications are now open to audition for the National Youth Theatre over January and February. Apply before the deadline: Fri 20 Jan 2012.

The National Youth Theatre (NYT) is the leading platform for showcasing young acting talent and was the first youth theatre in the world. For the past 55 years we have nurtured some of the finest British talent including Orlando Bloom, Hugh Bonneville, Daniel Craig, Daniel Day-Lewis, Chiwetel Ejiofor OBE, Jeremy Irvine, Sir Derek Jacobi, Dame Helen Mirren DBE, Matt Smith, Catherine Tate, Antonia Thomas, Ed Westwick and many more. Our young members perform on leading West End Stages and remarkable international stages around the world.

The programme for this year is incredibly full. We will be producing a new bi-lingual adaptation of a well-known Shakespearean play; a co-production with the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre which will premier in London before touring the UK and then to China. We’ll be producing a filmed documentary drama centred on stories from the 1948 Olympics, accompanied by a live event in the Midlands as the Olympic Torch passes through. FLOOD will be an epic piece of spectacle theatre staged in and around Salford Quays after NYT performs at this year’s once in a lifetime event – the London 2012 Olympics.
