Poetry Loops

To complement the experimental strand running through StAnza 2012, we cross several different borders of language and genre with a film (strictly for adults only) by an Icelandic sound poet, and we are also delighted to include a new film by an Irish film maker inspired by Ian Duhig's classic poem, 'The Lammas Hireling'. As indication and confirmation of the growth and cross-arts reach and appeal of poetry film, this year's selection of poetry films comes from people working across a range of art forms. In keeping with our theme of The Image, as well as screening collaborations involving poets, by showing a number of films made by visual artists we hope to stimulate a discussion as to where art film ends and filmpoem begins and what the creative space looks like where they meet.
