It's the grandpappy of the modern musical, the first one that didn't rely on ritzy production numbers, the first one in which the songs advanced the action instead of bringing it to a halt. The Cecilian Society performs Rodgers and Hammerstein's tale of a cowboy, his gal and the small town where they live in rural America.
