Pulsars - New Music: New Poetry: Rozalie Hirs

Poems and sound poetry, resequenced recordings of birdsong, a 'polyphonic cocktail party' of the cut-and-spliced childhood memories of a famous composer, a collaged Babel of poetic voices. Join poet and composer Rozalie Hirs for an hour of poetry and performance, featuring live versions of the electroacoustic compositions and texts on her recent CD Pulsars. This is the first performance in Scotland by Hirs, who studied composition with Louis Andriessen – her music has been described by one critic as having 'a hint of hard-hitting Dutch Minimalism'. She is also an accomplished poet with four published collections – Pulsars is an intriguing combination of both disciplines. Presented with the support of the Dutch Foundation for Literature. Part of StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival.
