The winner of three TS Eliot Award nominations, two Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prizes, and two Forward Poetry Prizes, Kathleen Jamie is one of Scotland's leading poets. Scottish identity, the natural world and family life are among her subjects, as is language itself, the rhythms of Scots and English flowing naturally through her verse. Grace Nichols, born in Guyana, and has been living in the UK for many years. The rich rhythms and culture of Caribbean speech have influenced her poetry, from her first collection, I is a Long Memoried Woman (1983), which won the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, to I Have Crossed an Ocean: Selected Poems (Bloodaxe 2010). Part of StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival.
