My Dante: Robert Wilson, Chris Carter, Robin Mackenzie & Corrina Salvadori
The tradition of the ‘lectura dantis’, a public reading and explanation of all 100 cantos of Dante's Divine Comedy, goes back to Boccaccio in the 14th century. The popular Lectura Dantis Andreapolitana which started in St Andrews in 2009 will be the first complete lectura dantis of its kind held in the UK. At this special stand-alone event for StAnza presented by Robert Wilson – who initiated the Lectura Dantis Andreapolitana – a series of favourite passages from Dante will be read in Italian and in translation by guests who will be invited to explain their choices. There will also be two open slots, and anyone who would like to take part should email info@stanzapoetry.org. Full information on the Lectura Dantis Andreapolitana is available online at www.st-andrews.ac.uk/lectura. Presented with the support of the University of St Andrews School of Modern Languages. Part of StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival.
