North Lanarkshire's literary festival promises a mixture of well-known and up-and-coming authors (past years have seen the likes of James Kelman, Will Self, Janice Galloway and Mark Millar visit the region's libraries). There are a range of special children's events, the return of south-east Asian poetry evening Mushaira and once again visitors can expect to find poetry in unusual places (last year it was a train on the Airdrie to Bathgate line … ).
