Open Glasgow: No Meal Is Complete Without Conversation
John Shankie and Andrew Miller host a series of free, bookable lunches during the Festival. The artists invite visitors into their private residence at 83 Hill Street and provide lunch in exchange for a conversation.
Over the past 20 years, 83 Hill Street has become an inadvertent site for artistic practice and artists’ accommodation, having housed artists, curators and exhibitions. This event, and the proposed transformation of Flat 3/1 at 83 Hill Street in particular, is an extension of component parts of each of the artists’ practice and personal interest. Whether directly or indirectly related, the outcome is particular to the process of making: the making of food, objects, hospitality, dialogue and community. Attendees are offered a set lunch from a pre-defined meal inventory and in return will be required to complete the experience of the event by agreeing to participate in recorded conversation and communication of some order thus incorporating them selves in the production.
An ‘Open Glasgow’ project for GI Festival.
All meals are free and must be booked in advance. To register your interest and receive notification when booking opens please email info@glasgowinternational.org.
