Gasoline Dance Machine
A night of mixed genres and mutant disco at this new night from Cheap Picasso and Kris Wasabi.
Gasoline Dance Machine
Gasoline Dance Machine, Cabaret Voltaire’s newest flagship night, has been going from strength to strength ever since its launch in October. Running the first and third Saturday of every month, with its iconic red and blue retro neon glow overseeing the antics from above the decks, it definitely looks the part as Edinburgh’s newest cult night. But you’d be wrong to think this night is cult by appearance alone. On Sat 3 Dec, the club will be the first in Scotland to play host to iconic Erol Alkan's Disco 3000 set.
Rising from the ashes left by out of touch club nights in an effort to revive the scene, Gasoline Dance Machine has already blown other nights out of the water. Having hosted the rising stars The C90s and Mustang already (who were very well received), the bookers for this night clearly have their fingers on the pulse of new music. GDM’s residents Cheap Picasso and Kris Wasabi are already well known as credible in-touch DJs. Coupled with phenomenal bookings, this night is promising to be exactly what Edinburgh has been crying out for.
Not the least of which is their next little beauty. The mere presence of Erol Alkan incites chants of 'Erol! Erol! Erol!' from dance floors throughout the world, echoing over thumping bass lines. A brand in himself, you would be hard pushed to find a kid in this city (or any other) that hasn't heard his name, although not many could tell you that Erol has been heavily influenced by the disco greats of past and present. To showcase this, he is bringing his Disco 3000 set to the atmospheric underground caves of Cabaret Voltaire on Sat 3 Dec, for a night which will take you on a journey through reworked disco dusted with synths by the master of keeping kids dancing.
