…miserere…
For over a hundred years, Gregorio Allegri's Miserere could only be heard in the Sistine Chapel because the Vatican threatened excommunication to anyone found copying it. In 1770 it finally got out when a teenage Mozart heard it and transcribed it from memory, making young Wolfie one of the first ever bootleggers. Here it's played by Ars Nova Copenhagen and followed by Andriessen's string quartet …miserere…, performed by the Smith Quartet. Free to ticket-holders of the Reich/Andriessen concert held earlier in the evening. Part of minimal.
We don't have details of any future performances, if you know of some please let us know.
