RSNO: Beethoven Eight
Programme:
Bizet Suite from The Fair Maid of Perth Chopin Piano Concerto No2 Fauré Pavane Beethoven Symphony No8
Douglas Boyd (CONDUCTOR) Ingrid Fliter (PIANO) Royal Scottish National Orchestra Masked balls, singing blacksmiths and a fairy queen: Bizet’s operatic portrait of Scotland might not be very accurate, but it is filled with terrific tunes! Glasgow-born conductor Douglas Boyd brings his trademark verve to our latest musical salute to the Auld Alliance, and ends the night with Beethoven’s firecracker of a Symphony. First, though, there’s the pure romance of Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto with the sensational Ingrid Fliter and Fauré’s enchanting Pavane.
