RSNO: Tasmin Little's Elgar

RSNO: Tasmin Little's Elgar

Tasmin Little made musical history a couple of years ago, when she became the first classical musician to offer free downloads on her website, as part of her what's-your-problem approach to people's reluctance to engage with classical music. In this concert she takes the solo part of Elgar's enduringly popular Violin Concerto. Also on the bill are Strauss' Don Juan and the Pelléas et Mélisande Suite by Scottish composer William Wallace. Sir Andrew Davis conducts.

Wallace Pelléas et Mélisande Suite R Strauss Don Juan Elgar Violin Concerto

Sir Andrew Davis (CONDUCTOR) Tasmin Little (VIOLIN) Royal Scottish National Orchestra

With a name like William Wallace you’d expect his music to be stirring – but nothing prepares you for the sheer gorgeousness of this Scottish composer’s music. And that’s just the start of an evening filled with forbidden passions, as Sir Andrew Davis whirls the RSNO through Strauss’ portrait of a great seducer and joins national treasure Tasmin Little in Elgar’s rapturous love song, following their recent award-winning recording of the concerto.
