Brooklyn-based rapper and hip hop artist Jay-Z surfs back to these shores on a tidal wave of success. Recent plaudits include Best International Male at the BRITS, three Grammys including Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Song, and Best Urban Act at the 2009 European MTV Music Awards. This headline show is the follow-up to the hugely successful 2008 American Gangsta tour and features the greatest hits from his 14 year music career, not including his self-imposed retirement between 2003 and 2006. Jay-Z is renowned for his lyrical flow and he stands proud in the pantheon of the world's greatest rappers as the former CEO of Def-Jam Records and Roc-A-Fella Records, and now founder of the newly established Roc Nation. No expense is spared in the production of this new show. The musician boasts 11 consecutive number one albums in America and his new LP, The Blueprint 3, has earned that rare combination of critical kudos and commercial success, thanks in part to collaborations with Rihanna and Kanye West on his number one single, Run This Town, and with Alicia Keys on the phenomenal smash hit, Empire State Of Mind. The triumphant release of this chart-topping album has cemented Jay-Z's popularity in the UK after his controversial headline slot at Glastonbury in 2008. Cynical festival goers were won over by the raw energy of his performance and since then, he has defied the doubters to prove that hip hop stills reigns supreme across the Atlantic.
