Marina And The Diamonds

The Welsh singer of Greek descent performs her own unique brand of indie-pop. The name Marina And The Diamonds originates from her given name Marina Lambrini Diamandis, Diamandis being Greek for Diamonds. The Diamonds are often mistakenly referred to as her backing group when in actual fact this is referencing Marina's dedicated followers. Marina is new on the scene rising straight to the top winning the BBC Sound Of 2010 poll just ahead of fellow newcomer Ellie Goulding. It was in 2009 that Diamandis released her first extended play with Neon Gold Records, The Crown Jewels. This was soon after followed by The American Jewels and her first studio album The Family Jewels in 2010, which she is now touring with. The sky's the limit for Marina, with such a quick succession of hits through out 2009 and 2010, the future looks bright.
