Engelbert Humperdinck
For more than four decades, international recording artist Engelbert Humperdinck has connected with fans of every age, on every continent. Crystallising his reputation as a versatile vocalist, he has recorded dozens of albums, most recently Legacy Of Love. The collection of songs revisits many of his most recognised hits and provides the name for his recent world tour, which took him from Paris to Pennsylvania, Moscow to Manchester, Vegas to Vienna. Many will recall that his lasting hit Release Me was one of the only songs to keep The Beatles off the top spot in both the UK and US charts. Born Arnold George Dorsey in Madras, India, he was the youngest of ten children and acquired a taste for music from an early age. He saved all of his money to pay for saxophone lessons, but it was a vocal performance when he was 17-years-old that changed everything. The young Mr Dorsey soon found his path to stardom and renamed himself, after the 19th century German composer of Hansel And Gretel, Engelbert Humperdinck - a performer that still fills arenas after forty years.
