2020, New Forest Children's Choir, Bethel Young Voices Choir

Three contrasting choirs of young voices present a celebration of children's singing in this all-afternoon Voicelab Welcomes special. Performing at 1.30pm, 2020 is an experimental choir for children aged seven to 12, organised by British Gospel Arts as part The Sing Thing, in partnership with Sing Up. The name is a two-fold representation of their youthful vision for the world's future engaging with the Millennium Development Goals through singing. Today's programme will be an exciting choral interpretation of music ranging from the King of Ragtime Scott Joplin to the King of Pop Michael Jackson. At 3.15pm, the New Forest Children's Choir bring their energy, love of singing and performing skills to a wider audience. Based in Christchurch, Dorset, this award-winning choir's concert will include pieces from John Rutter, arrangements of traditional folk songs, music from the musicals, classical choral music, gospel and some African songs, interspersed with solos featuring members of the Choir. Musical Director & Conductor: Alison Russell-Hayward. At 5pm, catch Bethel Young Voices Choir, an up-and-coming enthusiastic group of young singers who have launched their first album of gospel music called Sing unto the Lord a new song. Under the experienced tutoring of Dennis Ellington and Becky Thomas, this 30-voice choir has truly stamped its mark in gospel music, with members between the ages of five and 18. They were formed eight years ago at the Bethel Church of God of Prophecy in Wembley.
