Peter King Quintet With Mornington Lockett
- Telephone: 020 7352 5953
After taking the scene by storm in the early sixties with the Ronnie Scott quintet, Pete has gone on to establish himself unequivocally as one of the finest alto saxophonists in the world. His fabulous technique allied with an unerring sense of harmony has made him one of the greatest players this country has ever produced. Currently the featured saxophonist with the Charlie Watts band his playing has made him famous worldwide. Pete has always been a great supporter of the Club and it is with enormous pleasure that we welcome this saxophone giant. Pete's special guest tonight is the leading UK tenor saxophonist Mornington Lockett. One of the UK's leading tenor sax players Mornington worked with the Ronnie Scott quintet for almost three years before moving on to work with singer Sarah Jane Morris and the Tracey's, Stan and Clark, as well as being the driving force behind the remarkable "Celebrating the Jazz Couriers" quintet. He has a powerful and hugely impressive sound and approach. This gig is a rare chance to hear two of the finest saxophonists in World Jazz playing together and is an absolute must for anyone interested in great modern Jazz.
