Northern Ballet Theatre: Romeo And Juliet
Montagues; Capulets; the balcony; fights; death; unrestrained passion; an all-consuming love; the ultimate tragedy. Yes, the Northern Ballet Theatre is returning with one of its best-loved ballets, the stunning Romeo & Juliet. This adaptation of Shakespeare's most famous tragedy is a perfect blend of classical ballet, drama and live music, for which the company is renowned. It's the ultimate tale of forbidden love, and the NBT promises its take on the tale will be every bit as romantic, heartbreaking and dramatic as the play, from the balcony scene to the devastating final scene. Yes, newcomers, this story really doesn't end well. Fortunately, there is much to enjoy before we get to the tragedy, including Lez Brotherston's suitably sumptuous costumes and marble sets, along with Prokofiev's timeless score played live by the NBT Orchestra, which should add to the atmosphere of what promises to be an unforgettable and moving theatrical experience.
We don't have details of any future performances, if you know of some please let us know.
