Another World: Dali, Magritte and the Surrealists
A mind-melting collection of surrealist art from maestros familiar and arcane so eye-poppingly comprehensive that it threatens to burst through the Gallery's walls and into some other realm. Featuring works by Picasso, Miro, Dali and Magritte, among others.
Another World: Dali, Magritte and the Surrealists
Another World Dean Gallery Admission £7/ £5 Until 9 January 2010
The summer’s major exhibition at the Dean Gallery offers a comprehensive survey of Surrealist art, bringing together masterpieces by Salvador Dalí, Rene Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti and Joan Miró. Another World, the centrepiece of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art’s 50th anniversary celebrations, provides a fascinating overview of one of the most important art movements of the twentieth century. This exhibition features major loans from public and private collections, including stunning works by Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray.
The show also offers the chance to see the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art’s world-famous Collection of Surrealist art, one of the largest anywhere in the world and rivalling those of New York, Paris, Chicago and London.
