Edinburgh Mela Festival
As if Edinburgh in August wasn't colourful enough already, the Edinburgh Mela brings a riot of culture, colour and exoticism to the city. Celebrating the cultural diversity of Scotland, the Mela (Sanskrit for 'gathering') brings together musicians, singers and dancers from a huge variety of ethnic groups for performances amid a carnival atmosphere on Leith Links. There are also plenty of opportunities for children to get involved, plus stalls with crafts and tasty global cuisine.
