Kes

Kes

40 years since Barry Hines' novel was made into a classic film, director Nikolai Foster presents a new production of 'Kes'. The story of a boy from a family of failures who finds his true passion in the care and training of a kestrel chick, it promises to be a haunting and moving theatrical experience.

KES

Billy Casper's father disappeared when he was six and his mother is always going out, leaving him to fend for himself. Jud, his bullying older brother, works in the local coalmine and Billy is expected to follow in his footsteps.

Billy finds a kestrel chick and teaches himself how to raise and train it with just the aid of a library book. With Kes he discovers a mutual respect and passion that helps him escape from the harsh realities of his life.

Marking 40 years since the acclaimed novel became a classic of British cinema, this new production brings Barry Hines' haunting story of adolescence to the stage.
