Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
After the disappointing 'Bride and Prejudice', writer/director Chadha takes a step into younger territory with this adaptation of two of Louise Rennison's books. The film lacks the sharp wit of slick American comedies such as 'Clueless' and 'Mean Girls', but earns points for featuring actresses, including lead Groome, who really are the age of the characters they're playing.

I wouldn't refer to the humour in Clueless or Mean Girls as "sharp wit". The humour in those films is so contrived and desperate. I find a lot of the jokes in Mean Girls so inappropriate for its young audience and completely over the top and I think I was about 17 when that was released. I am a huge fan of Clueless though and the other qualities that Mean Girls bring. Today I went to see Angus, thongs film and being a reader of the series was extremely happy with the end product. I think with great British comedians such as Alan Davies the quality of humour was delivered brilliantly...and it was one of the best feel good films I have seen in a long time.
