And the prize for the darkest, most surreal piece of Scottish theatre you'll see this year goes to? Vanishing Point and the National Theatre of Scotland have adapted cult Czech film-maker's Jan Svankmajer's film, about a couple whose obsession with having a baby leads them to carve a monster out of a tree stump. The heavyweight cast features the wonderful Pauline Goldsmith, and Sandy Grierson, recently brilliant in 'Fergus Lamont' and 'Subway', who also co-adapted the script.
