All Quiet on the Western Front
Paul Baumer is a butterfly collector – a dreamer abruptly cast into one of the greatest nightmares in history. That he endures at all is down to the deep bonds of comradeship forged in the trenches. Just as the brimstone butterfly thrives in the field of battle, somehow the men keep one another’s spirits alive even amid the horrors of the Great War.
Erich Maria Remarque’s novel is a universal anthem to the strength of the human spirit. Directed by Giles Croft and starring James Alexandrou (Eastenders), Robin Kingsland’s faithful and theatrically inventive new adaptation brings the soul of a soldier to the stage.
