End of year Theatre Arts show inspired by one of the daily diary of a pupil.
Pilrig Park School – A Day in the Life Of…
They came down and saw our lives…mad, chaotic, routined, disciplined, patterns, explosions, all contained within the pages of my diary that flutter in the wind. Do they understand us?
For a third successive year the children of Pilrig Park School will perform their end of year Theatre Arts show at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh. Taking inspiration from a pupil who encouraged others to keep a diary, the show explores through dance the daily routine of different individuals – including a dentist, a ghost, a group of tourists, commuters in the city and even some animals and sea creatures.
Pilrig Park, located in central Edinburgh, provides education for secondary aged pupils with additional support needs. The Theatre Arts course is an excellent example of how the school’s curriculum is taught through the arts, rather than arts simply being part of the curriculum.
With the pupils designing and creating the sets, costumes and programmes, as well as overseeing box office and ushering duties, the Festival Theatre event provides a unique opportunity to gain life-skills and training opportunities, as well as creating an outstanding and inspirational performance.
