The LIST Card

What is The LIST Card?

It's a promotional scheme designed to encourage people to dine out more.

Diners receive a personalised card that allows them an introductory two-for-one meal (excluding drinks) at each participating restaurant in Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond.

Each participating restaurant is represented by a number on the back of the LIST Card. Diners may only claim one discounted dining session there per year, so when they pay their bill, restaurant staff score out their number.

No coupons, vouchers or complicated calculations are required.

How does The LIST Card work for the public?

The scheme will be promoted through The List publications and online. Members will join via list.co.uk, and will pay £35 for a year. They will receive a membership pack, which includes their personalised card.

They then search for a restaurant using the list.co.uk website directory, and call their chosen eatery to book a table. The List website will specify whether individual restaurants have any dining restrictions (such as Saturday nights or Valentine's Day).

Diners must tell the restaurant this is a LIST Card discount deal when they phone to book their table.

Members then present their LIST Card when they are requesting the bill in order to benefit from the promotion.

Members will also receive personalised email updates telling them about any new restaurants or promotions.

Benefits for restaurateurs

Each List reader spends an average of £480 on dining out each year. The LIST Card will encourage them to try a range of restaurants they have not visited before.

The discounts do not include drinks, so restaurants' profits in this area are not damaged.

The promotion is free for restaurants, and offers them increased brand awareness. They will be given a window sticker to exhibit their club status.

Details of the offer can be tailored to increase footfall in quieter periods.

The promotion requires advance booking

Restaurants will receive a full page listing on list.co.uk/card, as well as a discount and cross-promotion in The List, the Eating and Drinking Guide, and online.

Restaurateurs can choose the days on which the promotion will not apply. It will be made clear on their online page at list.co.uk/card if they do not want the promotion to apply on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or bank holidays.
