A sketch of Jack Vettriano's 'The Singing Butler' drawn during a one-hour masterclass has fetched £39,650 at auction. Vettriano gave the iconic piece to the University of St Andrews, and proceeds will go to St Andrews Students Charities Campaign.

Some of Jack Vettriano’s earliest works are to go under the hammer at a Sotheby’s sale in Gleneagles. The seven pictures, considered to be those which propelled the Fife-born artist into the big time, are expected to fetch more than £1.2 million.
