McKellen to return as Gandalf

Sir Ian McKellen will return as Gandalf in the two-part adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.

'Yes, it's true,' said the English actor. 'Obviously, it's not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.'

The prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be created by Hellboy II and Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro, it was recently announced, and will once more be shot in New Zealand.
