A retrospective of work by Tracey Emin at Edinburgh's Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art this August has failed to secure a sponsor, it's been reported. The National Galleries' other shows of the summer, Impressionism and Scotland and a display of portraits from the magazine Vanity Fair at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, have already received backing.
'I can see the reasons why companies might not want to sponsor it,' said Simon Groom, the Galleries' director of modern and contemporary art, 'or it might be slightly difficult, because she is... controversial.'
He did, however, add that he found it 'bloody unbelievable' that a sponsor had so far not presented themselves.
The show will run from 2 August until 9 November.
