Ian Wright quits the BBC
Ex-England and Arsenal player Ian Wright has quit the BBC's live commentary team, claiming he no longer wants to be seen as a 'comedy jester'.
'Times are changing. I don't know how long young people are going to want to sit down and watch that same old 'jacket, shirt and tie' format,' he said. 'I feel like I'm just there as a comedy jester to break the ice with Alan Shearer and Alan Hansen.'
Wrighty's latest presenting gig is as the anchor of Sky's Gladiators series.
