News to nibble on

Manchester’s only Michelin star holder, Paul Kitchings, is leaving Juniper restaurant with plans to relocate to Edinburgh’s New Town within the year to open a boutique hotel with small restaurant attached. Frequently cited as one of Britain’s most innovative chefs, with a history of serving 30-course tasting menus, Kitchings says he’s ‘determined to start afresh and get two stars’.

The Shore Bar and Restaurant in Leith has been taken over by the team behind neighbours Fishers, who hope to revive one of the district’s more venerable eating, drinking and music spots. The same menu will be served in both bar and restaurant, which have been spruced up without any radical changes. It’s already up and running but expect more fanfare around an official launch in early April. Book on 0131 553 5080
