The Accidental Husband (12A) 90min ••• Talk radio host Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman) advises one of her listeners to dump her fireman fiancé days before their wedding. Jilted ex Patrick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) decides to get his revenge on the radio host and her posh, dull husband-to-be Richard (Colin Firth) with comic and romantic results. Solid, likeably old-fashioned romantic comedy from actor-turned-director Griffin Dunne (Addicted to Love, Practical Magic) with decent performances and a simple predictable script that never overreaches itself. General release from Fri 29 Feb.

Vantage Point (12A) 89min •• Eight strangers try to unlock the truth behind an assassination attempt on the US president. After the assassination of President Ashton (William Hurt) on his way to an important summit in Spain, secret service agents Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Mathew Fox), tourist Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), American TV news producer Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver) are among those trying to put the puzzle together. Competently made but ridiculously silly and badly acted thriller which attempts to pollinate Oliver Stone’s JFK with Groundhog Day. General release from Fri 7 Mar.

Half Moon (15) 114min ••• Celebrated Kurdish filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi’s new film is the moving story of an aged Kurdish musician’s attempt to leave Iran and play one last concert in his homeland of Iraqi Kurdistan. Powerful, bleak and full of double meaning and suggestion, Ghobadi proves that he has lost none of the lyricism he exhibited in his brilliant earlier films A Time For Drunken Horses and Turtles Can Fly.
