Nada Surf
‘Spot the influence’ is a fun game for every errant music snob to indulge in of a Winter’s eve. Frustrating perhaps when you shout out ‘Weezer’ ‘Death Cab for Cutie’ or ‘Simple Plan’ here, only to find that the band your disectiing – in this case, Brooklyn’s Nada Surf – actually are the influence. Their unassuming, hook-laden guitar pop has been a big draw since 1992 and their latest long player Lucky confirms that their way with a spectral Byrdsian pop moment is deserving of your love.
Garage, Glasgow, Sat 23 Feb.
