‘Come and join us at our humble West End abode, the ol’ dears are away and we’ve got the decks set up in the front room,’ jokes Andy Thompson, a driving forces behind one of Glasgow’s hottest new nights in one of its coolest and cosiest venues.

The intriguingly named Huntley & Palmers Audio Club started life in December when it welcomed the incredible talent of the Parisian Pilooski to the Hetherington Research Club, a Glasgow University Union that is becoming an unlikely clubbing hotspot (see www.myspace.com/huntleysandpalmers for directions). The night went down a storm and they’re back for more, this time welcoming Michael Black from Unit 4, an act well known as underground purveyors of stylish electro who have produced gems such as the excellent and infectious ‘Bodydub’ and ‘New Day’, as well as some superb remixes.

The location itself is all part of the night’s magical appeal. As a converted Victorian house, with many of the original period fixtures intact, it has the feel of a house party. ‘The night is about quality music in a unique and intimate venue,’ Thompson explains ‘It’s simply two tenement flats with bars on either floor. After originally seeing Optimo using it for one of their Black Rabbit Whorehouse nights last year I wanted to do something there and the feedback from our first event was excellent with the venue coming in for particular praise.’ With some very special top secret guests promised soon this is one night worth staying in the flat for.
